broken window track/w8 redux =]

Post by TnemmoCoN » Wed Apr 30, 2008 12:27 am

Hey, a few months ago, the track for my window broke, and im just now getting around to fix it, lol. my question is, how do I get my window out to be able to take off and put on a new track piece?

This is the passenger side track (not broken)

Driver side track (broken)

After I got my door panels off, i had to take a little bit of the sound proofer crap stuff (w/e you call it) off and ended up just taking it all off. is that a bad thing? lol

major weight redux ftw!!!

roll the window about halfway up or down to where those bolts line up with holes in the door. I cant remember if its a 10mm or 8mm. It doesnt take long about half an hour

You have to unbolt all of the 8mm and 10 mm bolts and figure out how to get the tracks out. When you put the new ones in remember not to bend the cable too much or the plastic ends will break. Kind of a pain but not too hard.

Does that mean your window falls into the door if these are broken ?

it did fall down when it broke. but i can still roll it up and down. the only thing is that the whole window can slide forward and backwards (towards the front bumper and back towards the rear bumper) and i have to line it up everytime i roll it up. its kind of a pain, but i got used to it. plus, if i roll the window all the way down and not push it forward at the same time, it will pop my door open, lol.

Yeah, if those aren't broken or gone. Every coupe I've seen at the junkyard was either smoked in the driver's door or the track was gone. Which sucks cuz I just put a broken one into my black coupe, after pulling out the one that was broken worse. At least the window goes up and down, and straight.
