I just got an 98 4dr sohc 5spd with rear disc brakes.
It seems like a weird comb for this car? The guy i got it from of course let the timing belt break. So i got an engine from a 95 for cheap. Put the new engine in with all new timing comp. and gaskets drive it to work for 2 day which is 80 miles round trip a day and the car starts missing bad. After checking spark, fuel, etc. i find i got no compression in cylinder 2? The other cylinders have 170 to 175. Pulled valve cover and found no broken rocker arms or anything visable, but the cam is all chewed up? What do you guys thing could have done that and where do i go from here.

A little info about myself. My dad was a dodge tech for 17 yrs and i always like to get my hands dirty with him.

Ive had 2 Nissan sentra ser specv's one with turbo one with n20
Ive had one srt-4 with alot of mods and i loved it
one cobalt ss supercharged (junk)

On a budget but i had things slow and stock.

welcome. this forum recently died down a lot. some one must have swapped the rear discs off of another neon, that's what I did on my coupe but my R/T came with them. As for your cam problem, I have no idea what it could be, neons usually have pretty strong engines other than head gasket failure but then again, all of my engines were DOHC so I don't know much about the SOHC.
