1st thread...14 or 15-inch wheel/tire combo ?

Post by uta_flyinghigh » Wed Apr 02, 2008 9:09 am

1st thread, yay !

So my car is a DD that sees drag racing 5 times a year with the odd street race in between. I currently am running 185/65/14 and am thinking of switching to 195/60/15. Would I be heavier and would I launch better ?

if you running 14's than get 195/60/14 ftw!

for 15's It depends on the wheels, if the wheels are lightweight than you'll be fine. I have no idea which would launch better

depends on what type of tire you get. Go with the 195/60/14

My vote is 15" just for the improved handling on a daily driver.

15"s *may* slow you down slightly drag racing if you don't get a 15" wheel lighter than your 14", but it it depends on your tire choice and stuff too.

I didn't even know we had a wheels/tires forum lol. Has it always been here?

Indeed, I saw it after the site went back up. Thx for the input, 195/60/14 are unavailable here so I'll see what cheap 15'' rims can be found.

The 14's worked very nicely after all, lowered the fronts to 1.9 bar and raised the rears to 4.1 bar (!). Launched at 2500 and got very few wheelspin.

I'm running 195/60/14 on my 98 right now. I think 205/55/14 and 205/50/14 would fit on it too, but they are a bit shorter than stock. Not to mention they are very hard to find sizes.
