How-to: Cluster Fix

Post by SlvrACR » Tue Feb 13, 2007 11:31 pm

Speedo and tach not workng correctly. Time to reflow the soldier in your cluster. Easy 10 min job and saves you from buying a cluster.

Tools needed
Soldiering Iron

1. Remove cluster from car

2. Remove paper covering the back of the cluster

3. Remove the (9) #15 Torx bolt screws

4. Disconnect the ribbon cable, gently take off the circuit board from the pins. (Do not rush this)

5. Turn over circuit board and locate the 10 joints on each side like in pics.

6. Let the soldiering iron heat up

7. Heat each joint until it changes color (dont burn the board)

Thats all just heat all 20 joints and reinstall the cluster.
