Clean your engine :)

Post by CodeBlue92089 » Tue Nov 20, 2007 3:10 pm

Ive done this to my car. I took WD-40 and spray it all over the car wait about 1-5 mins and take it over to a car wash and wash it . ( BEFORE ) washing it put wd-40 all over it again and then wash it . you will get a good clean motor. Ive got it so clean i had 1-4 offers on people buying my motor off of me and its an SOHC with alot of miles. lol . so try it and it will work. Ill post some pictures of mine when i get my camra back.

So basically just spray everything in the engine bay down with WD-40 and then rinse it out a couple times?

oven cleaner works alot better and gets alot more penetration. another plus is that it isn't as oily as wd-40. it will come off a lot cleaner. and i'm pretty sure it's actually cheaper!

Why would you spray it onto your engine, then drive to a carwash?!

Better idea:

Drive to the car wash with your dirty car
THEN spray your engine and wait
THEN hose it down
THEN let it dry (so you don't F up electrical components)

Voila!! :D

if you haven't pulled out the little red clips in your connectors you really shouldn't have a problem with electric anyways. or if just make sure they are good and tight. if you get water in them you'll be waiting for a while. bringing some alcohol and q-tips with you wouldn't hurt either

I try and wipe down my motor every time I wash the car if I can. If its really nasty use a good degreaser and a power washer ( like whats at a normal car wash) Dry off the motor and give it a coat of some sort of rubber dressing, let it sit alittle, then pipe off.

Wow. I could literally eat off that engine (not that the owner would let me though).

Haha not too long when I had it out of the car. Buts it a mofo to keep all polished up. Basically ever time it gets wet (driving in the rain) I pretty much have to polish it. Sometimes I wish i hadn't.

WD-40 is unavailble here in Tunisia. Would oven cleaner do the trick ?
