my left hand turn signal won't click itself off when i straighten the steering wheel. i'm thinking it's the clock spring...but chrysler is telling me it's the multi function switch. it's not a huge issue, it's just something i'd like to fix, and i want to make sure i get the right parts to fix it right.
sorry if this is in the wrong section...it deffinately does not belong in any of the other sections though so i thought i'd try here. thanks for any help.
turn signals
It's either the clockspring or the switch itself. If you want to figure which one it is, pull out the multifunction switch. It takes 3 minutes:
1. Pull cover off steering column. You'll need to put the key in, turn forward, and pull it out by sticking something up the hole in the bottom of the column cover, whole lock cylinder will come out. 3-4 screws on bottom.
2. Remove multifunction switch, it's like 1-2 screws and 1-2 plugs.
Click it to "turn left" and there's a little wing the cancels it. Check to see if it works. Easy to figure out.

thank you sir. i'll give it a try tomorrow. i can't bring myself to work anymore on the car today...spent all day replacing the tranny and re-wiring a whole crap load of shitty wire splices from things the previous owners added. i'm too fed up with it to figure this out tonight. thanks for the information though.
Lol, that's why I prefer to start with either an unmolested car or a shell. That way it's all your work and you can't bitch about what so-and-so did.

Everyone that's purchased cars from me is happy. 5 people so far this year, and 4 of them required major work (2 engine swaps, one head swap, and some gaskets and rewiring of sensors). I'm a mechanic, Neons and forklifts mostly lol.2k2rt wrote:yeah. i've learned that lesson with this car. sad part is...the guy i bought it from is a mechanic. guess i now know why people say never to buy a mechanics car. thanks for the help.
