I had a couple 88 subaru wagons. Man I miss them both. Excellent cars. Parked one with 299,000 miles, still on original head gaskets. The other had unknown miles the odometer broke at exactly 200,000 and my parents drove it for about 4 more years and then I drove it for 2.

My first car was a beat-up 1935 Chevrolet 2 door sedan with a roaring 35 hp "stovebolt six". It had mechanical brakes, and came with a crank (to start the car if the battery went dead).
A big blue cloud (oil smoke) followed me down the road. It was considered a "POS" back in 1958.
