I have a dummy engine in place with a t-5. I've got two problems 1) the shifter is about three inches further forward than I want. And 2) the machine shop I took the crank too (not my typical machine shop, but these guys are new and I thought I'd try them out) had my crank and cylinder heads for three months. I called and stopped at their shop to check on my stuff a few times, they told me some busy stories and I wasn't in a hurry till around the 11th this month they had one head done, the other they said had two bent valves and so I had to buy two valves. Then just when I thought I was going to have everything ready to assemble, the machine shop told me my crank was junk. They had turned it and then decided to magnaflux it and found a crack. I looked at it and I can see the crack with my eyes its in the fillet area of the thrust main. So now I'm looking for a new crank. At least they're not charging me for turning it. Was hoping to have it done by now, but shit happens. I'm going to continue buying stuff for it through the winter. now I need to focus on getting my truck and snowplow ready for this winter. I need to finish my trans and get it back in the truck.

So here is what I'm using for a transmission. I'm building a beefed up Chrysler A500 gear ratios are 2.74:1 2.54:1 1:1 0.69:1

I elected out of the A518 because of weight and the gear ratios. 2.45:1 1.45:1

I cut the bell housing off just like when we modify them for use behind a chrysler b/rb engine. I'm using the Mitsu Montero bell housing and I'm making an adaptor plate.

With this set up I'm going to use a stock neon automatic shifter initially, but I'm looking for a Cheetah SCS shifter that I can afford.

Do you have any pictures of the 3.0 twin turbo engine installed in the engine bay?

What kind of front suspension will you use?

That will be one fast car !!!

I'm not taking any pics of the dummy engine since its just hacked in there for measurements and fitment purposes. The front struts are neon same with the lower control arms. I'm using 95 chrysler minivan hubs/knuckles, and I'm building a k-frame based on the factory one. pics of the front suspension will be up when its done.

Your car will be a masterpiece of hot rod building. I just can't imagine a v-6 in the same engine compartment as my 2.0 DOHC.

I did see photos of a Neon with a 440 cid engine on eBay, but the car was "stretched out" and mounted on a Dakota frame. In other words it bore about the same resemblance to a Neon, as Kurt Busch's race car does to my son's Dodge Charger.

beats out about almost anything even the 2.4 swap. though a big block would have been nice, this is different and sounds fun.

A mopar small block is possible if I were to move the firewall back two inches and run an accel dfi gen 8 with dis ignition. The dis is necessary since the distributor would actually sit under the windshield. I could still keep that streetable with a stroker crank making 408 cubic inches. If I had the cash though I'd love to get an indy 440 aluminum block with dry sump oiling and tube chassis the front of the neon and make that a killer street car. doing away with the oil pan would allow everything but the carb to remain under hood depending on intake used. Or if anyone makes a 400 block in aluminum I know I could stuff that under the hood. and the 400 can be stroked to 500 cubic inches. Imagine eight 4.380" dia. pistons compared to four 3.444" dia. pistons
