the thread up until the last 2 pages has been the same for 2 years.
a few called shenanigans years ago because that is a SOHC 2.0 motor with 2.0 mounts and a 2.4 manifold on the SOHC head modded for dual TB.
no different that modding a DOHC manifold for a SOHC but not actually a SOHC 2.4
then a separate pic of either the same or another red car showing the 2.4 block/oil pan from the bottom.
either way he hasnt come back, and no one cares anymore lol
I see. I don't believe it either because of a few reasons but mostly that the pics are not proving anything. I don't even believe the guy on the big org that says he bought the 2.4 sohc from this thread. I am ignoring all the advice and building one anyway. It's the only reason I bought a crane 007. I know its not a huge cam but if I was going to daily drive a sohc 2.0 I would have stuck with the 14 I had. Plan is to dyno my 2.0 and 2.4 with the same mods, just to see the difference. Just bought the belt. Going to the jy today to get the mounts I need to mod after that I plan to do some research on 2.4 pistons. I heard there are 2 styles and someone mentioned the older style would be more suitable for me. It may be a waste of time but its my time and I could be doing worse things then this. We plan to take lots of pics and videos, not for proof, I don't care what people think. It was originally because the info wasn't really there or buried extremely deep but since Jeff let it all out it is mostly just in case some other idiot wants to build a 2.4 sohc. Hopefully the build will actually start sometime in April.

old 2.4 piston domes look like 2.0 DOHC piston domes. '01-up 2.4s have the "ski jump" dome. turbo and non-turbo '01-up all have the same dome shape, the pin location is different for turbo and non-turbo. either one is fine to use depending on what you're doing. if you are going to turbo, use the ski jump version and not the older version, you can run more timing without pinging than if you use the old version.

I don't think booger and JeffB#2 are the same person...nonetheless....a 2.4 sohc is possible....I want to see everyones neon with one now.spoo76 wrote:Not the O.P Booger aka jeff that posted the completed SOHC 2.4 on an engine stand in the link also posted 1 picture in this thread.jamieely wrote:Look again, its not just a picture anymore.spoo76 wrote:a little late, that very same person posted the same engine in this thread already.
