96 Neon First one i own!! 250.00 dollar find!!!
I seen this car at a local car lot on Facebook one night and went and bought it the next day! I been running a 03 eclipse for the past 3 years and this is my first neon! I'm not quite sure where i should even start i am on a low budget and i have already done a 100K tune up on it .. It only has 112K and is a 96 Model..... Believe it or not it runs great even has a cold a/c in it!!! Any suggestions ??
There is my old eclipse in the background i got to put a new transmission and clutch in it ! It doesn't like racing or going over 110mph but its a 5 speed

Nice Plymouth style coupe.
Does it really have a DOHC lurking under the bulge hood or is it the SOHC like most styles have?
The tail pipe says your a SOHC.
but that can be a lye if its not a stock muffler.
I say style because for the few years there was a Plymouth neon they did the beige and brown interiors.
However most styles have power options and where in production 97/98/99.
If you need interior pieces your going to have a challenge sense most neons are the mono grey.

Nothing wrong with a SOHC motor. a lot of untapped potential can be found, its all on how much funds you have or are willing to put into it.
Most kits youll find for your neon is a hot air intake, if you want something more in the reach of a cold air, then youll have to do the 3.0/3.3 caravan mod, or find a iceman intake. these will locate your filter near the front core support and the trany under the battery. the only drawback is water can be sucked up (from puddles or a good rainy day) and cause engine failure via hydro-lock.
I ran a iceman on the 99 for a year or two before going balls out on the monster turbo engine build.
