Just for reference sake, the d series Honda motor is very robust. Just not great at making the needed power to consider the civic in question a worthy opponent. ^_^

That is not a performance model, not that your neon is either. Things get for more "challenging" when you talk about the si & type S models.

But the SOHC valvetrain can't flow a lot of air. Boosting a stock D will net about 250WHP if you are lucky before things start to break badly.

Stock for stock, a neon and civic of equal year are pretty fairly matched. DOHC vs an Si is usually a decent race if you have two well trained drivers.

Its a waste of time to boost a sohc honda. There an owesome motor for reliabilty and all that, but throw boost at it and it falls apart

Any swapped hatch/crx is going to be sick fast with boost. Hell. Those dohc hondas can produce 13's to 12's n/a. And boost and it gets real nasty. Friend has 91 k22 swap boosted running 11.5 on the street in ultra sleeper mode. No bling fart can exhaust, no screaming bov, and black i/c. Vipers, vettes, porsche, and bike diet only he says

then tell him to race from a dig, or take a few corners and see who wins. Honda boys are so full of it. my 180bhp miata stomps my friends 300bhp eg all day from a dig.
