I'm hoping for a 14.9 by the end of summer. My mag intake and 2002 cam (and weight loss in the driver) should get me there.
He's got 16's, and he doesn't count.

And I was aiming for a 15.5 last time I went to the track. First run was a 14.9 :)

Haven't hit 14's again, but I just got the car running for first time since like December lol.

A 15.5 is what I was aiming for too! I didn't think I'd get a 2.19 60' either on my street tires. I think I should really pull my accessories out. I just have the belt off at the moment.

Sadly my 60' time on that 14.9 was like 2.38. Now that I lowered it and got rid of the nasy rusty struts/springs and put on Koni's, and replaced the front suspension, I wonder what it'll do. It fuckin' sticks to the ground now that's for sure...

If you're spinning tires on the launch, you're wasting time. With street tires you need to:

1. AVOID THE WATER BOX! Just dry spin them a little to clean them off.

2. Lower the pressure to 20 PSI and experiment from there.

3. Avoid spinning on the launch. A "little" spin is OK, but just a very little. A "perfect" launch has no spin. You need to experiment with the tire pressure, launch RPM and clutch engagement.

4. Reaction time: don't worry about this until you can launch better. If you wait until the green you will suck. If you go on the last yellow, you'll suck too. Try going on the next to last yellow (probably too soon, and you'll red light), and adjust accordingly.

At this point, the car is capable of better times. The driver needs improvement, lol. A FWD MTX is a bitch to launch. It takes practice.
so other than the water box, which i've avoided, and trying to not to have too much wheel spin, you're saying that this is something that just takes a lot of practice? practice and a little bit of experimenting with the car...ie: tire pressure and rpm's at launch?
yup

I wonder what my car would have done without blown struts.

Also, my 60' was 2.179 not 2.197!

I'll find out in 3 weeks, some on spray and some not on spray. But I'll have the 2-step working by then I bet, just gotta figure out this firmware bullshit for MS2 cuz it's not working properly. Gayest part, once you get it burnt and talking to the laptop, shit's easy to get running.
