Speakers??
Speakers??
So I don't know a lot about car audio.. I bought myself a 96 SOHC neon and it didn't have a head unit. and i cant go without music so i put in a sony head unit in, (not sure of the model. it was in my old car; but i know it works great.) The front passenger door doesnt even have a speaker, the front driver does, but quit working after a day of having the new head unit in, and neither of the rear door speakers work. and there are two behind the back seats, above the trunk which arent working. so all i have are the two crappy dashboard speakers. haha. The guy i bought it from had it wired for subs, and currently still is. What's the best way of approaching this? Like what's the best way to diagnose why none of it is working?
Thanks.
Thanks.
First off unless u have something special I have never seen a neon with speakers in the rear doors. Second open your trunk and wiggle the speakers for the rear by back window also make sure their connected. If they start playing what so ever then u probly just need to replace all the speakers because sometimes they just get old and come apart.

x2 Tweeters in the dash
x2 6.5" Speakers in the Front Doors
x2 6x9" Speakers in the rear deck (rear windshield)
Factory speakers are very lucky to last 10 years. If you have factory speakers, i suggest replacing them
If you want competition sound, go to an audio shop and tell them what you want. I personally bought my tweeters and 6x9's at an audio shop, my 6.5's I got a Best Buy for like $60 for the pair. Walmart will have good prices on cheap speakers such as lower-end Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood and so on. All depends on what you want and what you want to spend.

Now that I remember, some early model neons (95-96) May have had smaller front door speakers...
5.25" or 6.5" are the 2 sizes. My 97 Neon has 6.5's. You'll have to check yours out.

Factory speakers will last a long time if they are not beaten on. My buddy's '99 R/T has factory speakers and they sound amazing still. No sub or anything and I love them. It isn't hard to wire up the speakers if you have a diagram. You can check for voltage and everything. It's not hard to use the diagram to figure out where to wire everything and figure out how it is.
Factory speakers are paper. Weak. Any aftermarket replacement speaker is going to be a huge improvement over quality and sound.

There goes my suggestion then. If u can afford it and want amazing sound quality then get rockford interior speakers. On a cheaper note though I have the boss audio speakers that Walmart sells and as long as u don't crank up the base they sound good and clear. I still have factory speakers in my 97 with a system. They sound crystal clear still.but I let my subs supply all my bass. The trebble is set to +10 and the bass is set to -4 and my subs do the work
