I've herd of people cutting their stock springs in order to achieve lower ride hight. Is this safe, and if so how effective would it be...just curious.

ha. cutting your stock springs is better then heating them. and more prefered if its all you got. i got friends that before we got money drove with cut springs for over 3 yrs....i ran with heated springs in my neon for 2 yrs then switched to real suspension..... hell my audi has like 20 coils a spring i heated 3 per a spring and got about 1.5 inches..... you do as you feel i say do it right the first time but cutting is better then heating.. if you don't know how metal works when heated heating can be very dangerous.

You can actually cut about 10% of an open wound spring safely. Its usually only dangerous if you cut too much off or cut it incorrectly. This will slightly lower the ride height and increase the spring rate. How much is unknown, and I thats why I wouldn't recommend it. For the low price of a new set of aftermarket springs, its not worth it.

Heating is very dangerous as its makes the steel more brittle in the heat-affected area. This makes the spring more prone to breakage.

kyb struts and eibacks goldline i herd was pretty good. if you lower on stock struts they blow inside a oil change or 2. kybs are cheap and decent. konis would be ideal but they cost around 4-500 a set.

i saw the ones on modern that are "stock replacements" for 250 a set of 4, i was thinking these with goldines, good deal obv for the money, but will this combo work or will it also bust those oil chambers?

At our local Farm n Fleet here in wisconsin. They have clamps that you put on your springs to lower your car. I personally wouldnt do that Id rather just get some new springs, but do you think that would be better than cutting or heating your springs?

And from what I've heard over at neoncanada, KYB's+Goldlines do not blow the struts (at least not rapidly).

Seeing they're only $100, it's always better than cutting springs.
