Proportioning valve

Post by shadetree » Sat May 05, 2007 11:39 pm

I have a 99 Dodge Neon with ABS and 4 wheel disc brakes. The

proportioning valve on the rear of the car back by the gas tank

started leaking brake fluid. Is this a sign of it being bad or other

problems? Does anyone have the Dodge part number for this

valve?

actually on abs cars the proportioning valve is on the abs actuator pack and I have no clue what valve is in the back of the car on the brakes unless hes seeing fluid leaking from above the fuel pump cover and is confusing it with a valve??? I think its just a rusted thru line and it should be repaired by a qualified technitian immeadiatly before it is driven again.

I've never seen it before but I surly believe it. My abs has them on the actuator block, both my non abs cars had it on the master cylinder. When I replaced my master cylinder on my abs car they never asked me if it had the propotioning valves on the master cylinder or not. The proportioning valves have different thread sizes then the normal lines so I know it would have caused a problem. Guess I learn something new everyday. Personally I'd just change it since its obviously not the lines as shown in the pics. It should just unbolt and the dealer would be able to get them for you.
