Ok transmission problem

Ok transmission problem

my car was a present when i got my license and sat for about 2 years till i started driving this past July and i have been having problems keeping the car in drive (it will rev but not move) and its not going into park (figured this out when car wouldn't start a month ago) but more like a false neutral any one have these problems and is there a fix or just a new transmission any help appreciated thanks.

if its an atx could be really low tranny fluid the neutral switch could possible cause it to not start because its not showing that its not in neutral or park. mtx could be theres absolutely no clutch left at all.

being that he has issues keeping it in "drive" and "not going into park", id say definite atx. check fluid. nss will stop from engine starting, but not "likely" going to keep it from shifting unless it met a catastrophic end. check it, wont hurt. bad shift cable could too.
It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom!
