im doing a srt swap in my buddys car,we left out the srt clutch and put in a modular from a 95-99,because of the trnny wouldn't fit,but since i blew mine i saw somewhere that you could use a srt clutch in a 96 or similar year car with a little bit of "shaving",what does that mean?also, the srt cutch we took out is a modular clutch.can i use it in mine?same throw out bearing?what needs trimmed to fit right?thanks for any help.

It is possible to use, but the clutch disk has a diameter that is too large for use in a neon. Not sure how to fix it, but I know that people were snapping clutch cables because the clutch is too firm, and it is used in a hydraulic setup stock. I would just use a PT crusier clutch from a 01 N/A cruiser. You can get this from modern for like $250 and it holds up to 270 WTQ.

SRT clutch has to be machined down on a lathe to fit in the 1st gen trans. There are specs for doing this on neons.org. A machine shop should be able to do this for a reasonable price.
