Intake from Chevy Malibu Maxx?

Have a question about how to make horsepower going the all motor route, here's where to ask it.

Intake from Chevy Malibu Maxx?

Post by FlowmasterNeon » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:54 pm

Hey all, I was working in the shop today and a Chevy Malibu Maxx came in and when I saw the intake piping on it, it looked like it would fit perfectly on my Neon for a CAI like the 3.0 intake off the Dodge Caravan. Has anyone tried this yet and seen if it fits? Here's a pic:

As far as I know nobody is using it. If you can get one and try it, that would probably give people another option for a cold air intake. I say get one, cut off the lower bend (that connects to the airbox) add a filter, and see if it fits.

I haven't heard of anyone else using one either. I might try to go to a junkyard soon and see if I can find one. It really looks like it would work though.

Someone might want to try their luck and see if it fits by buying the chrome intake piping kit for this car off Ebay. It'd look sick if it fits.

Just an idea..but it would mostly be for looks since it's chrome. And some people don't have access to junk yards like me because they close for the winter and they're limited where I live.

Most people can't get a 3.0 intake tube for 1.50...

I got mine for $3, and got a few of them months ago for $5.
I doubt this intake would be $60 from the junk yard.. Problem, is that how many of these cars are in the junkyard?? If I had to guess, I'd say not many. Hard to find any car with 10 years old in the junk yard.

True. But if anyone can get a hold of one of these I think it'd be a good thing to try out. Wanna send one of those 3.0 intakes my way?
