From what I always read, the Crane retainers don't really give you much for gains for how much they cost and that stock retainers are fine.

I've not heard much positive about the Fidanza cam gears, I would go with AEM or Crane.

I would get the head decked, the small bump in compression ratio should help with the Crane 18s.

I'll have a set of ARP head studs for sale soon if you are interested. I'll also have a complete ~500 mile head with Bischoff Racing 5-angle valve job, Crane springs and PT valvetrain for sale soon too.

i have herd that the findenze 2.0 gears have a habit of losing bolts...... and crane retainers will not really do anything for you cept if you have a real high reving car... then it mite help say above 7900 rpms.... the springs will be a must have with those 18'sss

also nice to see you here derek...its getting warmer out about time to get the clutch done..

We're talking about the DOHC gears. I don't think they are the same as the SOHC ones, but I could be wrong. Someone verify.

Shooting for some low 13's/high 12's by the end of summer.

Looking for some cheap magnum valve springs, a solid FMM, a solid bobble, and a nice non-mod clutch setup.

I didn't think Crane retainers were every truly needed. The springs yes.

OFT. Just use stock retainers/keepers.

You don't really notice the UDP. It doesn't give you HP, it just frees a few ponies up.

Build sounds sweet! Keep up the good work!

Tit. retainers are lighter than stock.
But rumor is you don't NEED them.

make sure you got the springs for sure! Stock springs VS. 18 Cam =disaster. As far as the retainers i'm not sure but the only sure way to know is the call crane themselves and ask. They actually were honest and told my buddy he didn't need the springs on the small nitrous cam.
