Post by pettersen » Mon Jan 26, 2009 3:34 pm

Would this setup get me:

Engine: 2.0 Sohc MTX

Mopar performance pcm (Got it)
P&P head
Crane #14
Pacecetter header (Got it)
aftermarket exhaust can (Got it)
Atx TB (Got it)
CAI (Got it)

I know there is no way to give an accurate number, but if i guess 140 would that be right?

id get rid of that pacesetter and replace it with a LTH and you would gain a little bit more.

As reference. We got a 2000 sohc in here w/

Stock atx pcm (but made swap to mtx 3.55)
UDP
Peacesetter Header
DOHC intake manifold adapted to SOHC 90° elbow cut
Full race head job
2.5" exaust no cat
Free flow muffler
Cam Sprocket
Crane 12
JE 10:5:1 Pistons over .040
TB CHerokee

It pulled 156hp / 132tq on an old Dyno Jet limiting @ stock 6700rpms. Im sure ATX PCM and Peacesetter header are hurting hp a lot but if an upgrade for a LTH and MS can get 165hp for sure.

It ran vs 2001 R/T 14.7s (170hp) Neon last weekend but lost by 2 cars.

So let say with your mods you should be close 145hp. Considering 2gn are heavier for around 300-400 pounds. Looking to that 2001 numbers. You are about to make high 14s with some light weight redux (no spare tire, no seats, no peace of metal on FMM, no p/s belt, no airbags... etc.).

Good luck!

Depends on who does the porting..if you do it it wil be less unless you really know what your doing!!!

I'd go with 2.5" exhaust, 14 cam, LTH, pnp head, box style intake manifold, solid mounts, mopar ecu, remove ac/ps, iceman CAI(or 3.0), bigger TB and you should be good

If your head is ported decent and they/you opened it up pretty good, then you might be a little more..the shorty header is gogin to kill you, i'd say when you get more money upgrade to a LTH(even Ebay ones they fit decent and are only like $215)....

I p/p'ed the head myself. Got no experience porting but really concern on what I was doing. Everything went ok... Then from 14.7s to 14.5s just porting? Invested $10 on a new IM gasket?? PRICELESS !!! :D

A stock SOHC dyno's around 120, you really think with a head, cam, intake mani, and header it'll only gain 10 HP?

Well i have a Crane #14 on it's way from modern now :D

So i need to save up some money for a p&p and i will get a Safc 2 Neo when i can afford it.
And i'm using 98 Octane i guess that will help a bit.

When i get it all installed and tuned i will get it on a Dyno, and see what the result is, and if our guesses where right :) My goal is atleast 140WHP, anything above will just make me Jizz in my pants :P

I'm going off the stock 03-05 dyno's I've seen. 123 is the highest stock I've seen. With a well taken care of motor I can see it. I wish I could have dyno'd my 98 when it was bone stock, it was making solid power.

not necessarily...my old stock SOHC w/ just a 55mm TB, 3.0 Intake and a Chikara header only put me at 110whp/125wtq

my semi built setup w/ Crane #12, Fidanza gear, ported intake mani, 55mm TB, 3.0 intake, Mopar PCM, same header, bigger cat, and OBX UDP, Summit racing turbo muffler, put me around 125whp/128wtq--siezed block

my High CR(10.4:1) SOHC setup w/ Crane #12, semi ported head and milled .030, all same mods as listed above w/ a DOHC block, Fidanza 2.1 clutch, put me at 127whp/125wtq--spun rod bearing

My last SOHC setup before the DOHC swap w/ Crane #14, fully ported and polished head, Mopar springs, 2001 block, Fidanza 2.1 clutch, same header, DOHC PCM, all same bolt ons, SAFC put me at 142whp/139wtq--spun rod bearing
