Sohc Coupe

Post by Edopsys » Mon Aug 11, 2008 8:54 am

So i have finally decided what im going to do with "Rae" the Cranberry coupe and after many months of planning and lurking on the .orgs im goin N/A. I am purely posting this as to reasure myself that i am going in the right direction. My goal in this project is to create a one of akind 1gn magnum powered fully loaded sleeper with a/c. And yes that does mean it will be Sohc and it will have all the luxury's it had from the factory. The power and time goal will be set at 175 and some where 14's on ~nice~ "street" tires and that is where im unsure seeing as how ive never built up a compact. So i offer you guys my list minus the Mag head and and dual runner intake, Crane 014, custom ramair CAI, 3.94 tanny, clutch, port polish gasket match, and this $1200 Progressive controlled direct port NOS system i would like to get for when the N/A neon only keeps up with your car.

Very nice! Do you plan on having a project log as you go threw this. I am very interested in the turn out. I am debating weather to buy and build a DOHC or stick w my SOHC.

yes hopefuly when the other half of the cash gets pooled ill be able to start this project prollly like mid next year but there will be a project log. i just cant wait to start the actual motor work. But like i said she'll primarly be built N/A but is also being designed for the goofy juice. hope fully good for high 12's low 13's on slicks.

i only see one thing that i dont like, a kirk header. its the bottom of the barrel long tube headers. the list goes something like: kirk, tti, afx, then the blackdog/fastfabs.

in my car i went with the tti, its a little below afx, but i ordered it cause i knew id get it, we have all heard stories about howell, but you can lurk the boards for a used fast fabs or a blackdog

One more thing ive been pondering on is with all the bolt-ons, head work, and crane 014. will she still have that low end sohc grunt or will it be doggier than when it was mostly stock. Because it tractors up hills pretty good between 1500 and 3500 or is it all relevant to cam timing.

Crane claims power from 2500-7500, but i have no power issues under 2500
