its not going to affect ur gas milage a whole lot but u will use more. lope is what muscle cars do........... they lope at idle........ its sounds like they are going to die or they are running rough but they dont and they arent. its because of the valve over lap on the crane 14.misfit4life wrote:how is the gas mileage?
and whats a loop?

^ I thought my 14 would lope more than it does, It basically is stock sounding. Iam running Mega Squirt tho and can tune a good idle tho. Not sure if it would make a diff

I heard a 14 on a turbo 01 R/T (sohc) with a 3" side exit. That thing sounded so BEAST. Def rough sounding, you of course, have more tuning ability.6(sic)6 wrote:^ I thought my 14 would lope more than it does, It basically is stock sounding. If you want some power but still DD with aggressive tb response: Then Crane 14 or Comp 400. More than that Crane 007.
As far as I know XKidrt's car pulled 181hp w/ 007 + the twicked old '95 Jeff's ECU. Unfortunatelly he went DOHC since few months ago:

mine has always loped pretty descent with the 14. As long as you have a stockish intake in it DD will be fine. If your running something with alot of plenum and not alot of runner, you'll have a pretty limited powerband under 4k hehe.
Overall should be the starting point for SOHC cams IMO

Ill have to take an idleing vid of mine. You would NEVER think it had an aftermarket cam. Ill get an ocasional "miss" at idle but thats about it......infil wrote:mine has always loped pretty descent with the 14. As long as you have a stockish intake in it DD will be fine. He went the 2.4 route after his car got stripped of parts twice in June and July and Jeff's cool PCM got jacked. It's since been recovered but he knew he could get more power out of the 2.4 than a SOHC since he about maxxed his out.Nono wrote:As far as I know XKidrt's car pulled 181hp w/ 007 + the twicked old '95 Jeff's ECU. just listened to that video again, it doesn't really lope too much int hat vid, that was right after i put the intake manifold on it, that completely changed the cars behavior, and it had a bit of a vacum leak sooo was idling around 1500.
it looks like i killed an injector last time out and right now i'm not too keen to change it as the motor is getting replaced, however if i get the opportunity i'll take a fresh video for ya.
