no experience with the comp 400 myself, but i love my 14.
Pulls like a bastard over 3500 on the stock intake up to the rev limit ont he mopar pcm, with my intake powerband comes in around 4k and it pulls a helluvalot harder.

Re: my sohc build
ur gonna have an issue running the dohc intake cause the dohc intake runners are quite a bit bigger than the sohc ports (in stock form) it doesnt matter if the sohc ports are gasket matched or not........ and to add to it ur dohc manifold is also gasket matched making the step from manifold runner to intake port even bigger. that lip is going to cause some awesome turbulance going into the head. if u do take care of this issue by hogging the intake ports out to match the manifold ur more than likly going to have some low end power loss due to the loss in velocity at low rpms not to mention ur exhaust ports would be choking ur engine to death. there is a plus to this as long as u have the rpm ability (which with a dohc mopar computer u should) and u open up the exhaust ports up........ it should pull like a freight train for about the last 3000 rpms of ur entire power band. make sure u get some crane springs to prevent the valves from floating also.neonboy96 wrote:well seens evey one know just about evey thang you can do im just going to list my parts list for my build and ill post pics of some of it latter

all in all the build sounds good except for the dohc intake, its going to be the killer here.
and stick with the 14 dont go with thee 400.

Need a ported/ custom intake manifold or system, oil catch can, or ported head? (look here...... http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t=259775) shoot me a PM for details. Headers and turbo manifolds to come shortly.
a ghetto blaster is indeed ghetto but it works. as long as u make the transitions from plenum to runner really nice and smooth (not just a 90 degree turn into the runner) then i would say that it should work nice. itb's are goning to take alot of work to get them to work right and u will need an afc/ wide band or MS to keep things under control for DDing............. and ur exhaust setup really doesnt sound up to par for running itb's either though. i say stick with a ghetto blaster if those are all ur options.neonboy96 wrote:so sould i just make a getto blaster or something i was thanking about itb a lot but not sure

neonboy96 wrote:what style intake sould i make like how long should the runers be and stuff i dont mean to ask a lot its just i know you turn out some great intakes so can you give me some tips
i hace a inovade wideban on the car
for NA i would do 8-9 inch runners........ ur not going to be as quick to get up and go down low (under 3500 or so) but above that u will pull hard alol the way to redline.......... i would know i just butt dynoed a stock manifold to one of my long runners.

The 400 is good for stock powerband, while the 14 will let you rev alot higher. If you have a good LTH, an upgraded intake manifold, and a performance computer, I'd go with the 14. If you're gonna run nitrous, and can't have an upgraded computer, I'd run the 400.Erays3r wrote:Hey mike , any reason you woudlnt go with the comp 400 ?

you can run a bigger computer, just need to be able to control the timing a bit.
