Have a question about how to make horsepower going the all motor route, here's where to ask it.

Mag vs indy, I've never seen a direct comparison. I've only seen dyno numbers for one indy intake manifold on a sohc, more info and a lose dyno here http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t ... highlight=

I've seen a few scary pictures of the port spacing being off for the sohc indy, I'm not sure if they've fixed that.

Ideal varies with setup.

A P&P'ed first gen aluminum intake manifold would suck. There is no way to get at the plenum or far into the runners unless you cut it. Add that it will get very very hot and it's an awful thing!

Unless you get one on the cheap I would just save up for an all motor mike custom box style intake manifold. It probably wouldn't cost much more.

Ballpark prices

Mag intake $385
$225 Mag intake manifold
$60 RPM switch/relay/wiring
$40 2g starter
$60 Throttlebody adaptor, or a 2g throttlebody with IAC adapter

all motor mike intake manifold $390 + options
$30 for an aluminum sohc intake manifold as a core
$10 to ship him the core
$350 shipped + options like porting, throttlebody flange and removing the injector humps

Indy Vs Mag Vs AMM.

Indy is bad! Dont get it unless your going Turbo, its way too big and you will lose power and with a cam you may barely gain anything. Dyno results on the other .org prove this over and over again!

Mag, works great and gives good gains. I was gonna do it before Mike made me mine. Cheaper and kinda ghetoish if you dont know what your doing.

AMM. Expensive but worth it. You can get it made for your application and for what you plan on doing. Nice show piece and give best gains out of the 3. What I have and would do it again! Pics and dyno results on the other .org also.

AMM>MAG>Indy. My opinion only.

FYI, the actual color varies from monitor to monitor and very dependant on the individual monitor's settings. Might look more red than strawberry to some. Thats probably why he asked

Uhmm, yeah, on street tires i spin the tires through all 4 gears i use in the 1/4 mile. FWIW i'm one of 2 sohc all motors in the 13's, and if you want to question my ability, my average light is a .040, and my average day at the races, no 2 runs are more than .05 apart from each other, hence average 2nd place finish this year in the bracket events. In my 10+ years of drag racing, everything from 17second sportsman cars(colorado, my first neon hehe, it was slow as hell), to 7second promod cars, please excuse me if i question your ability to criticize my driving skill or ability behind the wheel. Note the MPH on that run, 97.99 on a 14.4. Now look at my sig. 13.958@96. Hmm, looks like captain wheelspin to me....but i digress.

Regardless of that, if you are calling me out, you let me know when and what track, if its in the northeast, i will happily meet you there so we can discuss my ability to drive a car.

I can think of 3 others that hit 13's this year in a SOHC.

xkidrt, Dusty (hit low 13's a while ago), and 1 sic sohc on the .org all hit 13's this year. xkidrt upgraded to 2.4 dohc and dusty was selling his motor last I saw. So that's 5 total.
