Oil at the plugs...

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons? just anything that is generally "engine" specific.

Oil at the plugs...

Post by APN » Sat Mar 17, 2007 5:42 pm

I don't know what causes this, but my dad told me to ask on here...

I just swapped out my old champions for new ones...

All four of the old ones, when I took them out, were gapped around 40 and the #4 plug had significantly more oil there than the others...

The others did have oil (approx the same in one through three), but number four had at least two to three times the oil.

I'll upload a pic of all four for you guys (no longer in order of removal)...

check gasket and plug seals first. In the end could be a headgasket problem.

as skill suggested, more than likely the spark plug tube seals have deteriorated.

most likely valve cover gasket, pull the plugs oil is gonna follow gravity and run over the plugs when they come out.

Head gasket/rings dumpin that much oil would definately laeave a nice blue cloud.

Most likely your spark plug tube seals have deteriorated. Replace the tube seals in the valve cover.
