higher rpm studder?
higher rpm studder?
ok so my old engine in my 97 did the same thing this 96 does. and i know it didnt used to so though maybe you guys would know. when i really get on the gas and have rpm's up it seems like it its studdering or missing or something. like my power is kicking on and off somewhat. and it hasnt done it to me yet since i switched the motor but it used to be going down the road and it would kick and buck like i was dropping cylinders firing. and then on top of that if i turned on the rear defrost it would stop. any ideas on what would cause the higher rpm studder thing im talking about?

well i havent replaced the plugs and wires on this engine yet. but when i did on my 97 engine it still did it then. i never did replace the coil and im still using the same one. but i did test the coil at school and it tested out fine is the thing.
but any idea what the whole push rear defrost thing to make the engine run better would have been?

When my timing belt skipped a tooth my car would stutter at high rpm, it started around 5500. But I cant explain the defrost thing.

Well the reason it has a 96 motor in it is because it skipped a tooth. I replaced the timing belt on this one before it even went in and the tentioner. So I know the timing is right. But my 97 did it to before it jumped time.

since i switched out my gauge cluster finally i found out exactly when it studders. i noticed the warmer the weather the more often it happens and also at a lower rpm. last night it only did it for a split second at 6000 rpms. but today on the other hand in middle of the day it started at about 3,800 rpms which it then proceeded to jerk and shake with the tack needle bouncing around. at about 4,500 it finally powered through it and just barely did it for a second again before the trans shifted at 6,000. any ideas what to look for?

first time ive been on here in a while, im over on the other forum. but to give an answer of what happened with this all i had to pull the entire engine side of the wire harness out. i then stripped it all down and had to replace a few wires. or sections of wires. car runs better then it ever has before though. just finished up putting a new head gasket on the car last night as well. so first things i say about this problem is check your wiring. especially on the backside of the engine.
