looking for some upgrades to my stock sohc

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons? just anything that is generally "engine" specific.

so i looked at that intake idea i had and i just dont think there is enough room in front of battery to try it even unless it was tiny. so why do you say not to buy one of those ebay intakes like the one i posted the link to? because its just a multiple piece setup? cus i also found a one piece similar to the iceman ones. like this one

Its because it put the open element filter over the exhaust manifold. So instead of sucking in cool air your sucking in hot air.

With the 3.0 intake there is room in front of the battery if you trim the front part of the battery tray.

Well doesn't that iceman intake do the same thing technically? And I seen heat shields for sale to. But I know there's room to run pipe down in front of battery. I was trying to have the end of it right there though. But I looked and there's not enough room

The Iceman goes in the same spot as the 3.0 intake tube. but the Iceman can be had with a aluminum battery tray which allows for the tube to go in front of the battery

He was talking about putting a filter right there in front of the battery tray...

If your motor is still out port the head or have a machine shop do it. The sohc motors have a giant hump in the middle of the exaust port that restricts the flow, and the intake ports needs work done to they are rough. If you are porting it yourself don't take to much of the exhaust ports hump out there is a water jaket under there, but you should be able to get 1/4 of the hump off saffely. also I have a 1995 sohc motor, cam, header, and stock locatoin k&n air filter for sale. motor is back in, not looking to pull the head off to port it any time soon. car hasnt ran in over a month though. it acts like the crank sensor but i put a new one in and no go. it came with a new connector and wires which i still have to put on though so hopefully that fixes it.

but i bought that one certain 3.0 intake tube and ive had the k&n filter that i was told i needed to make the cold air intake. i remember seeing that i needed to cut it and put some exhaust pipe in with clamps to lengthen it some. anyone know what size pipe i need as well as what length? looking to put that in when i get the car running again.
