Why dont we clear the Subject of What swaps to what engine..

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons? just anything that is generally "engine" specific.

Why dont we clear the Subject of What swaps to what engine..

Post by keeders08 » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:46 pm

I think someone with the knowledge of what heads swap to what bottom ends should get on here and make a list... Ive been finding out that I knew nothing about what swaps.. in fact i didnt know that DOHC and SOHC had the block with the exception of pistons....

Thanks.

The definition of a NEON
A great domestic compact car whose rapidly disappearing taillights are most typically seen through the windshields of Honda Civics, Chevy Cavaliers, and other assorted shitboxes.

BUMP! woo woo!!

heres all i know... 2.4 swaps to sohc and dohc blocks... dont know what needs changed tho

2.0's all swap 2.0 blocks.. dohc head on a sohc block = lower compression by about .25 and vice versa assumingly..

2.4 swap on 2.0 head needs cams changed to 2.0.... pistons may need changed??

03+ is NGC 02 and below is SEBC, which are the 2 different crank sensors...

2.4 heads are cast identical to 2.0 DOHC heads, but they are no the same, the screw plugs on the 2.0 that you can use for oil, and coolant sensors are capped on the 2.4 and are not removable

No, the oil ports in the head/block differ in the 94-01 2.0/2.4 dohc and the 01 and newer. also the heads have the same exhaust bolt pattern, but intake bolt pattern differs IIRC

FYI:

Short Block implys the block, crank, rods, pistons

...i dont think it matters in this discussion, but thats def. good lookin lol

wether or not heads swap to the block or short block really doesnt differ unless u have clearance or compression issues with a put together "short block"? i could be wrong
