Need help estimating my hp level

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons? just anything that is generally "engine" specific.

Need help estimating my hp level

Post by uta_flyinghigh » Wed Mar 19, 2008 8:23 am

This may sound cheesy, but there's no dyno equipment available where I live (welcome to Africa).

I have a 2.0 SOHC with the following :

CAI (forget the pics on the project log, I have a real CAI now but my camera went poof)
ATX TB
Pacesetter header
Port&polish intake manifold
Cat delete
2.5' piping
DMX muffler

Thx

I live in Tunisia (Africa). Even if it got me 100 more hp I would keep the A/C.

115whp aint bad considering thats 12 over stock, and dont forget, your engines are also down .2L in displacement (i think right?) and you guys dont have agressive cams like in the 95 (correct me if im wrong), both those things together are good for another 4 or 5 whp, do 115 is a good accomplishment for not dumping that much money into the car

errr, wrong. You wont gain hp you keep your engine from having to turn those accessories but you will not GAIN hp. Your car will rev quicker and feel more free.

@ubengineering

We did get the "hot" cam but as for you, only on '95 models (I hate neontuning btw as he owns a 95 :-) )

We didn't get the DOHC but we did get both the 1.8 and 2.0 SOHC; mine is a 2.0 so it gives out 132hp stock (engine). Don't ask me why the Euro engine is rated at 132 and yours at 133, I have no idea.

From what I've heard, official hp levels on DOHC's were a little optimistic whereas the SOHC numbers were the opposite.

But that may be an urban legend.
