sohc head on dohc block questions

Working on a DOHC or 2.4L swap, or maybe you have some other idea and have some questions? Feel free to ask them here...

Well with any new rings, you should allow them around 3000 miles to seat. They might seat sooner than that, but it'll make sure they're seated. Not sure on power, I've seen plenty of DOHC builds, but not familiar with SOHC builds.

im an idiot when it comes to rebuilding how will i know when the rings are seated

You'll get full compression and won't have any blow-by. You actually won't "know" when it happens, but it usually happens within 3000 miles of normal driving. And I'm not talking about spirited street driving, I'm talking like grandma style driving. It's bad to haul ass on a motor you just built...

yeah i knew that much but not gonna happen for a little while now the trans blew apart yesturday it was rediculous

maybe ill just throw a motor together here soon get a dohc from the junk yard get a head gasket and throw it back together

of course id do the usual timing belt water pump and tensioner too just so i know its good but hell a motor from the jy is bout 3 bills for them to pull it might do that at the begining of the year

It's around 200 if you pull it yourself down here. And you can get away with a lot of extras too.
