srt4 swap

Post by carboneon » Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:54 pm

I have an srt4 engine and a pre 03 2.4 crank and block can I swap the normal crank into the srt4 engine to avoid the crank sensor issue ?

it would be easier to swap the rods and pistons from your srt4 block to your non ngc 2.4 block

so far from the homework i have done the srt4 crank and the normal 2.4 crank share the same bearing size as well as the same rear main seal. the srt oil pump can be used on eather and the crank sensor is located in the same area. so it seems pretty likely that a 2.4 normal crank should fit in the srt block

I think the position of the tone wheel is different so you would need to drill the block to put the crank sensor in the right position.

The tone ring is indead in a different position there actually on the complete oposit end of the crankshaft. It will not work

Yeah, that's been established for a while now, not so much of a mystery.
